The play is set around October 2007, smack in the middle of the housing crash and the remapping of the universe by a few scientists. More to the point, we find ourselves outside a dollar store at the end of a dying strip mall. Look around – you know the place. We meet three women who wear aprons with huge lettering “Everything’$ a Dollar”. Of varied ages, each has seen a different generation of America. A young silent boy searches for the lost planet of Pluto – missing from his broken model of the solar system, while his sister contemplates her future from a picnic table with an inescapable view of the Walmart across the road. The American Dream – where do we stand?
