What’s it about?

Over a rustic cabin fly several single-passenger drones.  Jane is holed up in the rented sanctuary in the woods to try to save her university job, her career…and her sanity.

In 2084, ear-books are big business. The faster the better.  AI is the antidote.  Original authors have all but disappeared and publishers run their own programs to produce  novels on single-play ear-buds. 

A classical university syllabus marks Jane as a dinosaur professor and her students and department chair have made it clear that it’s AI or the highway.  She must adjust to teaching literature and creative writing using what is now termed “alternative” intelligence. 

But an insistent stray cat, an unexpected visit from her teenage niece and a disgruntled possum threaten to derail her last chance to prove what she cannot fully explain.  Intertwined with her struggle to write a despondent man off a park bench and get him to Mars, Electric Possum blurs the lines of where story ends and reality begins.
